Description:

In this video I show you how to expand the number of OverWorld Sprites, as well as, the Palettes that are used for the OverWorld Sprites. The Dynamic OverWorld Palettes patch only works for FireRed. Link to Dynamic OverWorld Palettes Patch: https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=359685 Link to a tutorial on how to patch roms: https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=333151 Link to OverWorld Manager program: https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=361064 I gotta say, I spent 2 weeks plus a couple of days pouring through the data to come up with a complex tutorial on how to repoint the OW data and even expand the use of OW Sprites in game. The data excavation was a near complete success, however, I couldnt figure out how to do a few things like determine frame numbers and what not. This was all fine except the fact that both OverWorld Editor RE edition and NSE 1.7.5.0 couldnt interpret any of the new data. I spent a good chunk of this wasted time trying to edit their .ini files in anyway I could to try to make a simpler way to insert frames with expansion. Nothing worked, at most I could get NSE 1.7.5.0 to identify maybe the first or second new OW sprite, but not including any additional frames associated with the new OW sprite slot. I was about ready to create a complicated tutorial on how to insert the frame data elsewhere using NSE/OWRE then using HxD to copy over the hex data associated with the new frame into the new expanded OW slot. Luckily before I started that daunting process, I stumbled upon OverWorld Manager. A true god sent program. Had this never been found, tho probably when I were to submit the prior mentioned tutorial someone might have mentioned it to me, I would dread having to expand OW sprites in such a convoluted way and probably not attempt such, just using the bare minimum like I had already been doing. Now that this has been found I have about 140+ OW and their associated 3-9 frames to revamp, each individually, giving them all their own unique palette. I have a lot of work to improve upon so I dont think Ill be as vigilant with my tutorial uploading. Not to mention life has gotten busy on its own, slowing down progress even more.
